# List projects

> Find the projects available to the signed-in user.

Find the projects available to the signed-in user.

**MCP tool:** `list_projects`. **Operation:** read. Uses the authorized connection; no project or content changes are made by this tool.

## Parameters

No arguments. Send `{}`.

## Example call

Replace ID placeholders and example selections with values from your account. This is the `params` object for MCP `tools/call`.

```json theme={null}
{
  "name": "list_projects",
  "arguments": {}
}
```

## Read the response

Top-level `projects` contains project records. Read `project_id`, `name`, `workspace_id`, and `workspace_name` to select the intended project. `count` is the returned project count.

### Fields to use

These selected fields explain the example and the result to preserve. Field presence depends on the response; this is not a complete response schema.

| Field | Meaning and use |
| - | - |
| `projects[].project_id` | ID to pass to project-scoped calls. Use the returned value, not the display name. |
| `projects[].name` | Project display name; use workspace context to distinguish repeated names. |
| `projects[].status` | Project status. Select a measurement through list\_runs before interpreting results. |
| `count` | Number of returned projects in the full response; the example list is shortened. |

## Response example

Selected fields from an observed IQRush Dev response. Lists are shortened and project/run IDs are placeholders. Omitted fields remain available in the actual response.

```json theme={null}
{
  "projects": [
    {
      "project_id": "PROJECT_ID",
      "name": "Colorescience - United States - Mineral Sun Protection",
      "status": "COMPLETED"
    }
  ],
  "count": 169
}
```

Read the actual returned scope, counts, and interval levels before interpreting these fields.

## Important behavior

Use returned IDs. A project name alone may not be unique. An empty list is not an authentication failure by itself.

Check tool and payload errors before using the result. [Response handling](/developers/guides/09-responses-and-metrics) explains estimates and empty results; [errors and recovery](/developers/guides/13-errors) covers invalid requests and temporary failures.

HTTP equivalent: [List projects](/developers/http/http-list-projects). HTTP parameters and defaults can differ.
