# Find brands supported by a source

> Find the brands whose mentions are supported by a selected source.

Find the brands whose mentions are supported by a selected source.

**MCP tool:** `get_brands_grounded_by_source`. **Operation:** read. Uses the authorized connection; no project or content changes are made by this tool.

## Parameters

| Name | Type | Required | Default | Meaning and accepted values |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| `project_id` | string | Yes | `Required` | Project ID from list\_projects. Select the project in the intended workspace and environment. |
| `run_id` | string | Yes | `Required` | Run ID from list\_runs for this project. Use the exact returned value and check readiness before reading measurements. |
| `source` | string | Yes | `Required` | JSON-encoded object string. Specify exactly one domain or url, for example `{"domain":"allure.com"}`. Both keys together, or neither key, are rejected. |
| `aggregation_level` | string | No | `'bundle'` | entity reports individual measured names; bundle requests their configured brand groupings for the selected source. |
| `group_by` | string\[] or null | No | `null` | Use platform for a per-platform split. This handler builds platform groups; other requested dimensions do not establish separate row groups. |
| `filters` | object\[] or null | No | `null` | Select measured answers with objects containing dimension and values. Use labels from list\_dimension\_options; inspect returned warnings for filters that were not applied. |

## Example call

Replace ID placeholders and example selections with values from your account. This is the `params` object for MCP `tools/call`.

```json theme={null}
{
  "name": "get_brands_grounded_by_source",
  "arguments": {
    "project_id": "PROJECT_ID",
    "run_id": "RUN_ID",
    "source": "{\"domain\":\"allure.com\"}",
    "aggregation_level": "entity"
  }
}
```

## Read the response

Measurement data lists the supported brands and available sentiment information for the specified domain or URL.

### Fields to use

These selected fields explain the example and the result to preserve. Field presence depends on the response; this is not a complete response schema.

| Field | Meaning and use |
| - | - |
| `data.source.kind` | Whether the lookup selected a domain or a URL. |
| `data.source.value` | Source selected for the lookup. |
| `data.rows[].entity_or_bundle` | Measured name or grouping supported by the source. |
| `data.rows[].estimate` | Grounded mention count with the returned quality fields. A null interval does not mean zero uncertainty. |
| `data.rows[].n_mentions_grounded` | Grounded mention count for this name and source. |

## Response example

Selected fields from an observed IQRush Dev response. Lists are shortened and project/run IDs are placeholders. Omitted fields remain available in the actual response.

```json theme={null}
{
  "data_ready": true,
  "data": {
    "source": {
      "kind": "domain",
      "value": "allure.com"
    },
    "aggregation_level": "entity",
    "rows": [
      {
        "entity_or_bundle": "Allure",
        "group_by_values": {},
        "estimate": {
          "value": 14,
          "ci": null,
          "n": 14,
          "stability": "danger_zone",
          "stability_n": 14
        },
        "n_mentions_grounded": 14
      }
    ]
  }
}
```

Read the actual returned scope, counts, and interval levels before interpreting these fields.

## Important behavior

The `source` argument is a JSON-encoded string, such as `{"domain":"example.com"}`. Supply either a domain or a URL. A source relationship is not a causal endorsement.

Check tool and payload errors before using the result. [Response handling](/developers/guides/09-responses-and-metrics) explains estimates and empty results; [errors and recovery](/developers/guides/13-errors) covers invalid requests and temporary failures.

HTTP equivalent: [Find brands supported by a source](/developers/http/http-get-brands-grounded-by-source). HTTP parameters and defaults can differ.
