# Request an analysis plan

> Return a plan for a report the user explicitly requested.

Return a plan for a report the user explicitly requested.

**MCP tool:** `analytics_mode`. **Operation:** analysis planning. Uses the authorized connection; no project or content changes are made by this tool.

## Parameters

| Name | Type | Required | Default | Meaning and accepted values |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| `project_id` | string | Yes | `Required` | Project ID from list\_projects. Select the project in the intended workspace and environment. |
| `run_id` | string | Yes | `Required` | Run ID from list\_runs for this project. Use the exact returned value and check readiness before reading measurements. |
| `bundle` | string | No | `'summary'` | summary, citations, mentions, sentiment, prompts, topics, platforms, confidence, drift, provenance, page\_analysis, or full\_report. |
| `baseline_id` | string | No | `''` | Unsupported; leave empty or omit. |

## Example call

Replace ID placeholders and example selections with values from your account. This is the `params` object for MCP `tools/call`.

```json theme={null}
{
  "name": "analytics_mode",
  "arguments": {
    "project_id": "PROJECT_ID",
    "run_id": "RUN_ID",
    "bundle": "summary"
  }
}
```

## Read the response

Returns a structured analysis plan with steps and presentation guidance. The calling assistant must retrieve the needed evidence and create any output supported by its host.

A live response example is not included for this planning workflow.

## Important behavior

Use only for an explicit analytics-mode or full-report request. It does not run a new measurement or guarantee a saved report. Leave `baseline_id` empty; nonempty values are refused.

Check tool and payload errors before using the result. [Response handling](/developers/guides/09-responses-and-metrics) explains estimates and empty results; [errors and recovery](/developers/guides/13-errors) covers invalid requests and temporary failures.
